Offline-first tailoring

Keep taking measurements when the network disappears.

An offline-first tailor app writes the important record to the device before depending on a server. The fitting can continue even when data is slow or unavailable.

What works offline in MyTailorBook

  • Create, search, edit, and delete local customer records.
  • Enter standard and custom measurements.
  • Save fitting notes and a local style reference photo.
  • Choose measurement units and field preferences.
  • Share profiles and export customer records from the device.

Offline does not mean indestructible

A local record can still be lost if the phone is damaged, reset, or uninstalled before a backup exists. CSV export gives you a portable copy. Connected backup and multi-device sync are planned for signed-in accounts and should be treated separately from the free local ledger.

Local-first and cloud-only are different

A cloud-only app usually needs a connection before it can load or save. A local-first app keeps the working copy nearby and synchronises later when connected services are enabled. This is useful in workshops and fitting locations where connectivity changes during the day.

A practical backup habit

Until cloud backup is enabled, export records regularly and store the file somewhere you control. Check the export before replacing or resetting a device. Offline access improves continuity; a separate backup protects against device loss.
